The impact of sugar, to our waistlines and general wellbeing, has been well-reported in media of late. Our own documentary – That Sugar Film, has continued to educate and shift thinking around the dangers of excess added sugar consumption since its release in 2015. Damon Gameau embarks on a unique experiment to document the effects of a high sugar diet on a healthy body, consuming only foods that are commonly perceived as ‘healthy'. Through this entertaining and informative journey, Damon highlights some of the issues that plague the sugar industry, and where sugar lurks on supermarket shelves. The film has attracted audiences around the globe and was endorsed by Jamie Oliver as a "must watch" movie, as well as motivating a special screening to the UK and NZ Parliaments, fuelling the push for a sugar tax.Building on the philosophy of the film, our strategy seeks to empower Australians to make informed food choices in work and life, through our community outreach, consumer education and corporate wellness programs. ✦ Corporate Wellness program, improving the health of our workforce ✦ Curriculum-based School Action Toolkit, educating our children across 900+ schools in Australia & New Zealand ✦ Consumer program, launching 2018!✦ Mai Wiru Sugar Foundation, creating social change in indigenous and remote communities of Australia✦ Ambassadors, selected passionate individuals on the ground who provide support to That Sugar's initiativesFor those embarking on their own low added sugar journey That Sugar has a collection of resources in the way of books, a Sugar guide, healthy recipes, a large social media community and That Sugar app for tracking sugar intake.
