The Affable way to run a design company...We love toys, we really do. Toy designer must come somewhere between Astronaut and Train Driver on a child's list of ideal jobs. What is better than designing toys for a living? Designing product for licenses you're excited about. Designing the sort of products you want to buy. When we set up The Affable Design Company we had a clear goal in mind. We wanted to give clients the benefit of Ed's twenty years' experience in licensed product design and development, with minimal overheads and bureaucracy - Cinderella's coach for the price of the pumpkin. We wanted to play a part in developing products that take the world's favourite licenses and add a little extra magic. We wanted to be a genuinely good company to deal with - to be Affable, in fact.So. How do you go about building an Affable company? You attract the best possible design, sculpting and prototyping talent. You put effort into making sure project management is informed, intelligent, and hands on. And, crucially, you keep overheads low. Once we knew what we wanted and what we needed, we realised what we didn't need: a building. Affable is a virtual design studio. Ed and Adele are based in Caversham, Reading, but cutting edge digital design and sculpting technology means that we can recruit the best talent unrestricted by location: we can see what they're working on as easily as if they were at the next desk. And having no bricks-and-mortar infrastructure to support means we can pay rates that attract the best creative talent; and charge rates that represent excellent value for money to our clients. We offer everything you expect from a design company at the top of their game: design, development, project management, 3D scanning and prototyping. The difference is, we do it Affably.
