Individual & Family Services - Huntersville, North Carolina, United States
The African Children's Project was founded for the express purpose of acknowledging and responding to the orphan crisis.\\Our mission is to build small scale, community-based homes for children that have been orphaned as a direct result of the HIV/AIDS pandemic in Africa. Our current project site is located in Embu, Kenya, where we have strong local ties. Our homes will be staffed by Kenyan nationals; a strategy that will not only allow sibling groups to be raised together, but will allow this fragile population of children to maintain a sense of familial identity by encouraging any remaining kinship ties they may have. In addition to providing for each child's physical, emotional, and spiritual needs, we are committed to creating and maintaining a loving, nurturing and family-oriented environment. It is our hope that in time a new family will be created, and each child in our care will regain a sense of belonging, value and purpose.
