The Aruna Project Details
Aruna is a Hindi word meaning 'bright morning sun.' The Aruna Project is working to end commercial sexual exploitation by bringing freedom and restoration to the many women and children sold into the trade. We do this through raising awareness and funds by mobilizing thousands across the US in Aruna Runs to Run for Her Freedom. In South Asia, through partnerships in red light areas, we help bring freedom to those at the mercy of injustice, then employ each woman in our freedom business subsidiary, Somerset Exports. Products produced through the freedom business are distributed through the Aruna Project at each Aruna Run, on our eCommerce platform and future expansion into retail. Bring and sustain freedom by purchasing products handmade by women who are no longer slaves, but are now Artisans living in freedom.
