Our mission is to mainstream collaborative design across the built environment sector to democratise design, create better neighbourhoods and inspire long term stewardship. The Association of Collaborative Design (ACD) brings together a network of individuals, professionals and organisations that endorse the collaborative process of creating and managing environments with and for people and nature. This process promotes change to the built environment from the street to neighbourhood to the regional scale and aims to meet peoples needs through participatory and democratic decision-making at all levels. In the summer of 2019, The Architecture Centre, and the Landscape Institute held a series of workshops in Bristol bringing people together to talk about participatory design, community engagement and diversity. There was a real buzz at the workshops and a sense that people wanted to continue the conversation, the learning and the sharing. The Association of Collaborative design was hatched by people who carried on after the workshops, getting together to explore how to extend the opportunity to collaborate and connect their knowledge, skills and resources. We want to operate as a collaborative network. Currently there are four of us working to shape up the ACD. Find out more about who we are belowThe ACD was founded in 2020 and is a Community Interest Company (CIC)
