Civic & Social Organization - Apopka, Florida, United States
The Avian Reconditioning Center for Birds of Prey was founded with the purpose of reuniting injured or orphaned raptors (birds of prey) with their natural environment. We combine modern medicine and traditional falconry training to evaluate, treat, and rehabilitate each bird that comes through our facility. While we are a licensed wildlife rehabilitation facility, we treat ONLY Birds of Prey - eagles, hawks, owls, falcons, kites, and vultures. We are a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization; We recieve NO funding from state or federal government offices, and rely entirely upon volunteer assistance and the generosity of the general public to keep our doors open. The Avian Reconditioning Center is a not for profit birds of prey rehabilitation and education facility. One of our main focuses is the physical reconditioning of raptors that have been inactive for an extended period of time while recovering from illness or injury. We also use falconry techniques to evaluate a bird's chances for survival in the wild after recovering from an injury and to teach young birds how to hunt. Education is a primary focus as well and we provide many education opportunities using live birds of prey.
