BEAC is an independent, nonprofit corporation established in 1997 to issue professional certifications relating to environmental, health, and safety auditing and other scientific fields. BEAC was originally created as a joint venture between The Institute of Internal Auditors (The IIA) and the Auditing Roundtable, Inc.(Roundtable).BEAC confers the Certified Professional EHS Auditor (CPEA) designation in four specialty areas: Environmental Compliance, Health & Safety Compliance, Management System, and Responsible Care. Applicants are required to meet a variety of qualification criteria, and pass a six-hour closed book examination. The CPEA designation is accredited by the Council of Engineering and Scientific Specialty Boards.BEAC has just introduced in 2012 the Certified Process Safety Auditor (CPSA) designation; applicants must meet rigorous experience and qualification criteria.
