The Bright School opened in Uptown New Orleans in 1959. At the time, deaf and hard of hearing children received many of the same services they receive today including speech therapy, language lessons and auditory training. As technology advance and children were being identifies with hearing loss as younger ages, the school began to focus on early intervention, working with children from birth to three years old.The Bright School helps the community through three programs. The first being Language Says it All, a collaborative with the New Orleans Speech and Hearing Center, and a local child care facility. Second is individualized lessons through Louisiana Early Steps. And the third program, Infant and Toddler Signing.Mission:To meet the most important needs of the New Orleans community, which is the development and support of children with cochlear implants, and providing quality child care with trained staff.
