The California Copyright Conference was established in 1953 for the discussion of copyright-related areas pertaining to music and entertainment. There were seven founding members. The CCC expanded during the next two years, taking its present form in 1955 under the presidency of famed songwriter Harold Spina.Today, the scope of the CCC has broadened to cover all matters pertaining to music industry issues. The organization has grown to over 300 members from all areas of the music and entertainment industry, including publishers, songwriters/composers, attorneys, music supervisors, representatives from trade publications, performing rights societies, music libraries, motion pictures, television, multimedia, Internet, and record companies.The CCC holds monthly dinner meetings on selected Tuesdays, with a hiatus in June, July and August. The December meeting is our annual holiday party. The monthly meetings feature a guest speaker or panel on a broad range of subjects of interest to the members, as well as a "Legal Update" on current litigation and legislation that affects our industry. In addition, we hold joint meetings with other organizations such as The Society of Composers & Lyricists, the Production Music Association, the Guild of Music Supervisors, ASCAP, BMI, and SESACThe general membership of the CCC elects the Officers and Board of Directors of the organization. All members are encouraged to participate actively in the running of the organization and meetings. Dinner charges and membership fees are tax-deductible. MCLE credit is available for attorneys.
