The Canadian Primary Health Care Research Network (CPHCRN) is a newly established group of all stakeholders and researchers in the various aspects of community-based primary health care (CBPHC) in Canada.According to the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), "CBPHC covers the broad range of primary prevention (including public health) and primary care services within the community... CBPHC involves the coordination and provision of integrated care... in a range of community settings... It is delivered in a way that is patient- and population-centred and responsive to economic, social, cultural and gender differences." CPHCRN's stakeholders and researchers are coming together to better coordinate CBPHC research efforts by capacity building, priority-setting, and preparing the infrastructure to scale-up of innovative models of CBPHC for implementation across a wider variety of contexts. Ultimately, the goal of the network is to improve the quality, accessibility and cost-effectiveness of the Canadian health care system.
