Nonprofit Organization Management - Covington, Georgia, United States
The Center for Community Preservation and Planning is a neutral place for collaborative planning. The Center was founded in 2002 by residents who shared a concern about the rapid, unchecked sprawl emanating from Atlanta towards Newton County. They weren't experts or professional planners – they just believed that growth could be managed and accepted in a way that would improve quality of life for old and new residents. They created the Center to represent, house, and support their search for a plan.By accommodating and managing future growth, Newton leaders are defending our environment, reducing long-term public expenses, and preserving our community for future generations. The Center is not an expert or a plan. The Center is the place and the people that supply Newton leaders the training, tools, and neutral space to chart their own course. Newton's leaders share a love for their community, and, over time, have come to believe in the value of strategic planning.
