The Chartered Society of Forensic Sciences is an international professional body with members in over 60 countries. Originally founded as The Forensic Science Society in 1959 by Professor Stuart Kind and the Society is one of the oldest and largest forensic associations in the world. In 2004, the Forensic Science Society became a professional body, and the voice for Forensic Practitioners, both in the UK and abroad. In 2013 the Society was granted a Royal Charter and re launched as The Chartered Society of Forensic Sciences in 2014. The main aim of the society is to encourage communication and collaboration by providing an arena in which forensic practitioners, researchers, academics and those working in related fields can congregate, communicate and invoke development of areas such as best practice, research, publication, quality and ethics in forensic casework. We are a registered charity whose structure is clearly laid out in our constitution and activities are wide reaching.The main aim of the Society is:'To be the professional body for all Forensic Practitioners' This aim is achieved by various activities, including providing opportunities for practitioners, academics and interested parties to congregate, communicate and collaborate and providing opportunities for professional development as follows.
