Food Production - Cincinnati, Ohio, United States
Jacob Liscow founded the Cincinnati Preserving Co. in 1924. We started by making fruit fillings for Dolly Madison Bakeries. As the business grew, the company provided fruit fillings for manufactures of cookies, doughnuts, pastries, turnovers and fruit pancake syrups. The next generation, Stanley Liscow, Mimi and Jerome Cohen, decided to make special batches of the family's favorite preserves. We have always used only USDA Grade A fruit from the best growing regions in the United States. We call our preserves "old-fashioned" because fruit is always the first ingredient, followed by pure cane sugar, fruit pectin, and citric acid. Our preserves have never been made with corn sweeteners or artificial colors, flavors and preservatives. Dan Cohen and Andy Liscow, were persuaded by the preserves' fabulous reviews and intense demand to make our private stock available for local sale. Clearbrook Farms preserves soon caught the attention of some of the nation's finest gourmet food providers, including Dean & Deluca, Zabars, and Balducci's. We are proud that hundreds of our original clients are still selling our products today. In 1982 we were persuaded by Community Coffee to produce our first private label preserves. We are very proud to include private label customers like Williams Sonoma, Harris Teeter, Wolferman's, Harry and David, Raleys and Krogers. We have successfully been audited by British Retail Consortium for the Global Food Safety Initiative.
