Furniture/Fixtures - Kansas City, MO, US
The City Girl Farm is a collective of artisans in Kansas City, Missouri, whose shared work is seeking to delight the world in the making of the ‘Chicken Footstools'. Using traditional art processes such as felting, spinning, knitting, and stitching, these one-of-a-kind sculptures emerge at the intersection of fiber arts and furniture design. They remind us of where we've come from, as we continue to enjoy the discovery of each new adventure they take us into. The studio was founded around original works by Sally Linville, with the support of her family and two long-time friends, Carly Pumphery, Co-Creative Director, and John Hubbard, Business Manager. The collaboration of artistry turned business was born out of an appreciation for playfully functional objects that enliven the home. For Sally, these pieces were first inspired by memories of childhood pet chickens and an appreciation for the sheep ottoman created by the French artists, Claude and Francois-Xavier Lalanne. While finishing her program in Interior Architecture and Product Design at Kansas State University, the first two Chicken Footstools, Henny and Penny, came to be. Since then, many more Chickens, of unique shapes, colors, postures, and personalities have entered the homes of collectors around the world.
