Defense & Space - Washington, Washington, United States
The defense analysis marketplace is increasingly crowded and yet lacks an unbiased point of view from trusted, knowledgeable sources. Ironically, the voice most absent from the debate on our Nation's defenses is the one with the most to contribute – our former military leaders. The Common Defense aims to activate this untapped pool of independent, former senior defense officials, who have the credibility, subject matter expertise, and experience to positively impact the public national security debate. The Common Defense will generate and host original commentary, analysis, and debate from these independent experts who served our Nation. Our website and newsletter will be a clearinghouse for unique perspectives and commentary on defense issues.Vision:A more constructive national security policy process elevated by vigorous discussion and debate focused primarily on actionable recommendations and solutions that are independent of partisan or other special interests.Mission:The Common Defense will serve as an independent voice for America's national security by providing a non-partisan forum to promote well-informed and analysis-based public discourse on critical challenges facing our Nation, with particular emphasis on drawing upon the expertise of former senior military leaders. Objectives:• Solicit commentary and analysis primarily from former senior military leaders, as well as other thought leaders, who have subject matter expertise and a desire to contribute to the public dialogue on national security issues;• Publish the contributions through an online forum and newsletter; and• Further disseminate these contributions to a wide range of stakeholders, including policymakers, the media, think tank scholars, academia, and the defense industry.
