Community Fusion is an arts-based, thought-provoking and arts-generating continuous work of art by Canadian artist Janice Tanton, in partnership with many others, designed to surface and awaken insights and ways of knowing by taking the time to listen deeply between cultures, genders, generations and art-forms. The initial Canadian studio events which occurred between June 7 and September 18, 2009, combined 85+ artists, filmmakers, business people, mothers, fathers, grandmothers, grandfathers, musicians, elders, children, writers and multimedia artists; indigenous and non-indigenous community members from all walks of life, providing the impetus for the creation of this new work, new ways of thinking and being with one another.Community Fusion uses active cross-disciplinary fusional artistic practice to deepen and enhance the understanding and dialogue between artistic genre practices, generations & cultures. It serves as a catalyst to develop relationships when practiced in a nurturing and safe community environment. It heightens your full sensory experience as a human being and wakes us up to what we could not imagine to be possible.Community Fusion engages all your senses. Participants communicate in the aesthetic language of the human being through artistic practice vs. verbal discourse. Community Fusion makes the process of the artist visible, tangible, experiential and attainable.Community Fusion combines all disciplines of arts practice.
