Non-Profit - N/A, N/A, gb
We are a network of local environmentally-focused philanthropic funds around the world. Currently we have funds in: Ibiza, Mallorca, Menorca, Aeolian Islands, Cyclades Islands, St Vincent and the Grenadines, the Ionian Islands, Barbados,, Sri Lanka, Devon and the Scottish Highlands. We hope to grow the network significantly in the years to come. The aim of these funds is simply to secure modest sums money by way of an annual commitment from people and businesses that have a strong local connection to these places, for philanthropic distribution to deserving local environmental initiatives. The funds support projects broadly across the following themes: marine conservation, landscape and biodiversity protection, local food, fresh water, sensible waste management (and the elimination of single use plastics) and (renewable) energy. Responsible tourism is fast becoming another important area that we're addressing. The Foundations are each based on a similar model but vary in strategy according to each location's environmental, political and social contexts. Each foundation is apolitical, independent, not for profit, and are privately funded by individuals and businesses who love and rely on a certain place that they want to protect, preserve and restore. By supporting local initiatives and identifying the framework and skills needed to tackle specific local environmental problems, we are creating a global network with access to piloted and proven solutions. We foster local environmental luminaries and help develop programmes designed to be proactive agents of change, bolstering civil society and building capacity, to create long lasting change. Our foundations are involving, empowering and strengthening local communities through a bottom-up integrated approach:www.svgef.orgwww.aeolianpreservationfun.org www.ibizapreservation.orgwww.aeolianpreservationfund.orgwww.menorcapreservationfund.orgwww.mallorcapreservationfund.org
