Primary/Secondary Education - Atlanta, GA, United States
Fundamental to education are the assumptions that children can change and that these changes are facilitated by those who can educate. My observation of students, as they proceed to become educated, confirms that changes do, in fact, take place. Students are expected to learn factual information on their levels. They should learn to evaluate sources, solve problems, and express their ideas, both orally and written, more effectively. More significantly, personality development is promoted.Students begin to gain independence from their parent's to search for a sense of autonomy, and to form concepts about themselves. They are developing patterns of interpersonal behavior and value systems which impact their development. Because of the realization of the relevance of the 5Rs as the mission of all concerned, International Preparatory Institute, The Davenport School @ IPI, is making a special effort to avail to Early School and Elementary School children basic educational foundations. Our focus is that of enriching the lives of our boys and girls through Reading Writing, Arithmetic, Respect, and Responsibility, with provisions for rich illustrations in areas proven beneficial and an environment where no child fails. The mission of education finds expression as a part of the task of developing a fully functional individual in a global society. The Davenport School @IPI finds it a daily calling, not a seasonal emphasis. While there is no one method or technique used to implement the school's curriculum, approaches are put into practice which produce greater gains. Parent's in the first and most important years of life, shoulder the major responsibility as teachers of their children. All too often, they do not have the type of assistance needed to effectively fulfill their obligations. The Davenport School @ IPI is committed to filling that gap. -Dr. Vivien Davenport, Headmaster
