The DENNY Foundation was established after the death, through suicide, of Dennis (Denny) Purcell. Denny was just 25 years of age and battled, for most of his short life, with mental illness, behavioural problems, isolation, and addictions. The overall emphasis of the Foundation is on developing and implementing practical programs which enhance well-being and resilience in children, young people, their families, and the community; as well as promoting and augmenting knowledge and understanding of the societal issues impacting upon these subgroups. In its project development, The DENNY Foundation relies on evidence based research and best practice methodologies; approaching the complexity of the societal issues involved in its projects in a balanced and scholarly manner.
