What began as a pandemic podcast between two new friends has now turned into a purposeful mission expanding beyond the internet and into school communities. While the podcast still focuses on highlighting individuals who have decided heart moments in their lives and then go on to positively impact the world, we also are helping entire communities have their own decided heart moments! We commit to working with schools who are looking to improve engagement and achievement by first focusing on the adult relationships (educators, administrators, and parents) and how they are modeling engagement to the students. We concentrate on the pillars of self-reflection/identity and accountability, building high trust relationships with operational guidelines and creating an overall sense of belonging – all through the lens of diversity and inclusion.Founders Sonja Montiel and Hilary Bilbrey have combined their 40+ years of counseling, consulting, coaching, and educating with the 30+ years in DEIJ and higher ed that Dr. Katya Armistead brings. Together, these three help schools have their decided heart moments as a community. We assess where communities are in the process, recommend a course of action and provide the framework and facilitation to make it happen. Specifically, we consider:How will they show up individually and together? How will they build operational guidelines that invite high-trust relationships? How will they make sure everyone is seen and feels a sense of belonging? Trust and belonging are the cornerstones to increasing results and overall wellness in every area of life, but how powerful would it be if we started where our kids spend most of their time?
