The Dorcas Project Details
The Dorcas Project is a youth development program geared towards teaching basic entrepreneurial and critical/creative thinking skills to students through our women's clothing line. Math, reading, language arts and writing skills are used throughout activities giving students real-life application experience that enforces what they've already learned in the classroom. We also introduce art, design, and basic sewing skills with lessons ranging from design principles to jewelry construction.Throughout the program, students make simple clothing and accessories that we sell on our online shop, at local boutiques and at our POP-UP Shops. We're providing a safe environment for students to build character, learn new skills and reinforce those they've already developed in the classroom. All of this with the constant backdrop of altruism.The Dorcas Project is a self-sustainable afterschool program and creative outlet that provides students with: +A safe and productive environment that encourages holistic learning +The opportunity to use their creative abilities to introduce innovative ideas +Motivation for personal goal setting that will carry them through schooling and beyond +The development of altruism by using their talents to give back to others
