The Draftery discusses the role of architectural drawing today. Through three distinct platforms for publishing and commenting on drawings, The Draftery facilitates a multi-disciplinary conversation about how drawings are made and their role in the built environment. Our contributor's drawings and statements constitute the heart of The Draftery, and every day the community and potential discourse among contemporaneous practitioners broadens, deepens, and has the potential to direct Architecture as a discipline.Through our curated drawing Archive, Captions, and the journal Figures, The Draftery seeks to demonstrate that drawing, more than mere representation, is a method of acting in the world; that drawings exercise power in the built environment, and that this reality remains inadequately addressed in a world more focused on technological advancement than methodological understanding. Good drawings foster careful reflection of their effects in the world often requiring the same amount of time and attention to both create and read. Our mission is to provide a limited context and pointed commentary on the ways in which drawings engage the world through their making—to dispel the belief that drawing is dead.
