The Edison Centre is a nurture provision, based at Beechwood Primary Academy, Plymouth.The centre boasts a break room, learning room, therapy space, a Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) lab, outdoor areas, therapeutic animals and full use of the main school building. We currently have 4 members of highly trained and well-experienced staff, who offer a trauma informed and therapeutic approach to learning. All staff are committed to finding creative ways to support our learners.We accept referrals from Plymouth schools for learners aged 5 - 11 (Foundation to Year 6). The centre is designed for children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), traumas and/or Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), and social and emotional needs.Pupils attend for 6 weeks on part-time timetables, where they receive a bespoke curriculum of thematic STEM based learning alongside a rich package of social and therapeutic work, to improve and manage their needs therefore enabling them to succeed in mainstream education. Children are then reintegrated back to their schools with Edison support following their 6 week term.Since opening in September 2018:- 96% of schools would refer again to the Edison Centre- 85% of parents felt their child's behaviour had improved at school- 81% of parents felt their child's behaviour had improved at home- 100% of parents felt included in the work at Edison- 92% of parents valued the reintegration- 96% of parents would recommend Edison
