As Egypt is passing a critical phase in its history, and it really needs the efforts of all the actors to build its renaissance, we do believe that it is essential to integrate Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) into national development policies and the economic reform agenda. And as government alone could not monopolize the support of the Scientific Research and Innovation System, that's why appeared the need of the role of private sector and civil society organizations to support STI in Egypt. Hence, appears the importance of the special role that ECASTI plays, as a policy think tank that produces reports, policy briefings, and position statements on issues related to Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) and their impact on socio-economic development in Egypt. Our aim is to contribute, through policy insights and advisory functions, to the creation of a supportive ecosystem whereby STI can transform Egypt into a knowledge-based economy. In addition to its Board of Trustees and executive team, ECASTI operates via its Council of Scientists, a body of volunteer experts committed to scientific excellence and public service. The Council of Scientists is composed of 50 Egyptian scientists, academics, and researchers from within Egypt as well as from the Egyptian expatriate community, all of whom volunteer their time and expertise to ECASTI's initiatives and activities. ECASTI is registered as a non-governmental foundation under number 9312 for the year 2013. It falls under the supervision of the Ministry of Social Affairs as per law 84/2002.
