Enameling, the application of glass to metal, is a rare and difficult medium, but one which has great fascination for the viewer. Often it is poorly understood, difficult to do well, very hard to photograph, and has received far less recognition than other craft media. The Enamelist Society is an organization that has been working for the last twenty-four years to change all that. It is well recognized internationally, and almost 10% of our membership is from other nations. Primarily the purpose of the Enamelist Society is to promote the art of enameling, to educate the public and our members about enameling and to encourage cooperation and discussion among individuals involved with any aspect of enameling. That purpose has been carried out by holding biennial conferences where enamelists can come together to take workshops, learn about new techniques in the medium, and to interact with each other to further disseminate information. At the same time, an International Juried Exhibition and an International Juried Student Exhibition have been held. The Enamelist Society is very actively working to support our members and increase awareness of this wonderful medium. Please visit us online at www.enamelistsociety.org for more information and we look forward to seeing many more of you get involved in enameling.
