Arts and Crafts - Margaret River, N/A, AU
The Farm Margaret River is located in the south west of Western Australia, a region of ancient soils and flora, bounded by the Indian Ocean. The Margaret River region is an international destination for those interested in the arts, wine growing, surfing and isolated, unspoilt, natural beauty. In the age of the Anthropocene, our relationship to the environment and the reciprocal impact of each upon the other is a complex topic. Here at The Farm Margaret River we engage with agricultural sciences, visual arts and the community to explore and observe our united possibilities. The visual arts are a conduit to our conversation and our perspective of where we stand today. The Farm Margaret River sits upon a beautiful handful of dirt and clean water, farmed for four generations, and prior to settlement, country of the Wardandi cultural group of the Nyoongar people. The Farm Margaret River is located between Margaret River and Gracetown on a tributary that feeds into Ellen Brook. It is a working farm that has transformed existing buildings, such as the hay and machinery sheds, into working studios. The property is nestled amongst a rural community that is interested in holistic and sustainable living practices. Our project aims to bring together artists and agri-culturalists who are focused on developing projects that are rooted in country, in the soil, air and water of this specific location. We offer residencies for large scale and long term projects, and our studios are available for short term use.The Farm Margaret River acknowledges the Traditional Owners of country throughout Australia and recognises their continuing connection to land, waters and community. We pay our respects to them and their cultures; and to elders both past and present.
