Non-Profit - Raleigh, NC, US
The Foundation of Hope For Research and Treatment of Mental Illness is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization established in 1984 by the late Thad and Alice Eure to fund scientific research aimed at discovering the causes and potential cures for mental illness in order to develop a more effective means of treatment. Through a variety of charity activities, the Foundation of Hope works to raise community awareness of mental illness and support those suffering from mental disorders, in hopes of reducing the stigma that mental illnesses so often carry. The Foundation provides financial support for ongoing and new research and treatment, as well as the development of researchers at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, its affiliated psychiatric institutions, and local mental health agencies. We seek to make a far-reaching impact in mental health, taking the support from the Triangle and extending it to become known as a leading champion of mental health research and community programs. We educate our volunteers and donors on the impact of their involvement and have a more evident presence, in our own community and beyond. Our goal in the next 5 years is to become a million dollar foundation, through diversification of funding resources and expanding our donor base, with the ultimate goal of growing our impact on worthwhile research projects and community initiatives. The Foundation of Hope for Research and Treatment of Mental Illness hosts the Annual Walk/Run for Hope in October, an event that attracts more than 3,000 people and raises important funds for the research and treatment of mental illness. For more information, please call (919) 781-9255 or visit us on the web at walkforhope.com
