Sisters Casey and Janine Melvin pivoted from law students and future attorneys to startup co-CEOs in February 2017 after a failed search for a signet ring online. They were shocked at the lack of options for customizable pieces available for sale online in an affordable price range. The future founders realized there was a void in the market-- one that existed due to the high cost of skilled craftsmanship necessary to create custom jewelry pieces in the past. With the progress in technology made in recent years, they believed they could automate this customization process through software development...and so THEFUTUREOFJEWELRY was born. THEFUTUREOFJEWELRY dev team (led by CTO Thanos Saringelos) has developed a cross-browser, lightning-fast web app that enables the user to design every aspect of the signet ring at CUSTOM.TFOJ.com.First, the user chooses a ring style from the collection, then selects the precious metal material and ring size. Next, the user customizes the signet face and sides of the ring band using our new sketch editor, which enables the user to visualize the ring in real time from their browser. Options to add text in several fonts, upload a logo or custom design, draw free-hand, select from our library of icons, or employ a combination of techniques
