The Garden House is a visitor attraction in Devon, on the edge of Dartmoor National Park. without doubt, it is one of the finest gardens in Britain and it attracts visitors from all over the world. The garden and house are owned, maintained and developed thanks to a small charitable trust; The Fortescue Garden Trust. The ten acre garden surrounds 'The Garden House' which is the former family home of Lionel and Katharine Fortescue, who began creating the garden when they bought the property in 1945. Since then the garden has grown and been influenced by a handful of head gardeners. It is internationally known for naturalistic planting and unusual plants.
