The Girl SkillUp Initiative is a gender-targeted skill training that seeks to meaningfully engage young women between the ages of 18 and 29 years, with technical capacity as upholsterers, so that they can fill the existing skill gap in the growing market within the furniture industry in Nigeria.WHY GIRLS?All over the world, females are the best upholsterers. Even though this is an industry where females can thrive with excellence, there are really no females in the furniture industry in Nigeria. Some of the reasons why we are focusing on females are:- Finesse, attention to details and a passion for accuracy are a part of their innate abilities. - Upholstery does not require muscle, it is more about technique and so females can fit easily into this industry.- This sector is untapped.
