Founded by Lord John Browne, the former chief executive of BP, GlassCloset.org exists to promote the inclusion of LGBT people in companies around the world. We recognise the personal and professional benefits which accrue to individuals who bring their whole selves to work, as well as the commercial advantage gained by companies which treat their employees well: they outperform their competitors by more than 20 per cent over a 10-year period.GlassCloset.org was inspired by Lord John Browne's most recent book, which discusses his experiences as a closeted gay man in the oil industry, and the experiences of other prominent executives from around the world. His book argues that coming out is best for employees and the companies that support them.Glasscloset.org engages straight and LGBT allies on workplace equality issues through external events, curating stories and sharing best practice and research.
