Nonprofit Organization Management - Daybrook, , United Kingdom
The Grantham Canal Society (GCS) was formed in 1969 to preserve the canal and to prevent it from being lost through landfill etc. We have been very active over the last few decades in securing funding to gradually restoring the 33 miles of the canal with the aim of becoming a completely navigable waterway for boats connected to the larger waterways network. The GCS works very closely with the Inland Waterways Association (IWA) and we are an approved contractor for the Canal and River Trust (CRT). The GCS is wholly led and managed by volunteers. We want to take our work to a whole new level in coming years/decades and have some major hurdles to navigate, including the A1 at Grantham and the A52 at Nottingham - not to mention a number of bridges to raise, a dry section to rewater and a few more locks to restore. To do this we need support from individuals and communities, as members and volunteers and mangers to lead our ambitious projects, raise money, raise our profile. We really need talented individuals with skills in a variety of areas, Engineering, building, planning, law, fundraising, marketing, events management, volunteer coordination, finances, publications, PR and communications, Ecology, Health & Safety, experienced supervising students and young volunteers - you name it we need it! The more community and individual support we have the less daunting the task becomes - we are an active ambitious small charity - come and join us
