Arts and Crafts - N/A, N/A, GB
For nearly 20 years, London based The Gray Circle has pioneered "Lightscapes": site-specific art that incorporates light, colour and moving image and are individually designed to transform a particular space and create an evolving interactive experience for the viewer. Projects can be video installations, free-standing light sculptures, projections, video mapping or LED installations. The sheer artistry and versatility – thanks to this variety of formats and individual approach - have won commissions world-wide from architectural, corporate and theatrical clients (from Lord of the Rings on-stage to international projects with Zaha Hadid Architects). Lightscapes were a natural development from founder and creative director Thomas D Gray's background in 2D and 3D Design and Film: The Gray Circle's signature stamp combines a multi-dimensional quality, truly beautiful layering of filmed images, and a sensory experience. In many, a dynamic light source or moving images project onto or through materials such as glass, steel, fabric and water. Projects include: - An art documentary film of Chicago that transforms the interior of a fabric ‘pod' building designed specifically by Zaha Hadid Architects to house the project in Millennium Park. - For the London Hippodrome Casino, 57 screens surrounding the viewer over several floors of the historic atrium, blend seamless images of London sights and Vegas lights.
