Sports - Sydney, New South Wales, Australia
Every four years, our Organising Committee comes together to arrange one of the largest community driven events, on Sydney's lower North Shore. Since the inaugural games hosted in 1988, our focus has been to foster long lasting community relationships, teamwork, and of course, fun. The Greenwich Village Games was conceived through the vision of one man, a local resident, Tom Lawson. Tom, originally from Scotland, was inspired by the Pentathlon in the Scottish Highlands. Eight teams were formed and named, loosely around resident's professions; ages and genders were mixed; and a variety of sporting disciplines endorsed. The tradition has continued for 33 years, to date, despite the challenges of the last year.
