Situated in the heart of West Berkshire on the Bath Road, Halfway is given its name as it is halfway between Bristol and London on the historic coaching route between the two major cities. The Halfway Inn dates back to the 1800's as a historic coaching inn where the horses were given a well-deserved rest during their long journey. No doubt the coach masters may have had a drink or two at the same time!History has it that the pub may have had a number of names before it ended up as The Halfway Inn. The Old Green Man is amongst the names given and there may be some reference to him today in the pub.Halfway is just four miles from the market town of Newbury. Hungerford and its plethora of antiquities is just five miles away and the beautiful town of Marlborough is a further eight miles to the west. To this day, the pub sits near the heart of The Valley of The Racehorse and nestled neatly between Lambourn and Newbury. So, it is with no surprise that our logo and brand reflects that of a horse.
