The Literary and Debating Society is one of the oldest clubs of the Government College of Technology, Coimbatore. The society traces its origin to 1958 when the College Union used to organize inter-collegiate debates. This soon led to its re-organization of the club and its inception as the Literary and Debating Society in 1962. The Literary and Debating Society is run by members who are dedicated and passionate about the English language. The society has a rich tradition of organizing and participating in inter-college fests through out the state.
