The Lutheran Center's mission is to invite students more deeply into Jesus Christ and the community that bears His name, so they can discover and fulfill their vocation as disciples.College is a turbulent time for many young adults. New classes, new interests, and new independence all present excitement and challenges for people in this phase of life. In response to the needs of young adults, the Lutheran Center on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus meets people where they are at on their faith journey and accompanies them as they question, doubt, contemplate, and discover. It is a unique place on campus where people are real and relationships are authentic. This level of trust keeps people coming back and engaging more deeply. As a Lutheran Center alumna, Cassey Lottman, says, "The Lutheran Center has helped me to grow, not just because of the uplifting worship or the opportunity to take on leadership roles, but because it is a place where I have experienced Christian community at it's best."The Lutheran Center has launched our $6 million capital campaign to replace our current building with a new, expanded Lutheran Center in the same ideal location on the UN-L campus. Our plan for the new building includes staying at the heart of campus, where we can proclaim Christ crucified in the heart of students' academic and residential lives. The new sanctuary will become a prominent indication of Christ's presence on this campus. The upper level will accommodate 12 residential students and one resident advisor with bedroom suites and communal living, kitchen and dining space; the revenue realized by housing and program fees will create a sustainable income to support and upkeep building costs. There will also be classrooms, kitchen facilities, a lounge for students to gather, and a specific room and entrance for the OpeN Shelf campus pantry. We have raised $3.6 million so far and plan to tear down our current building in Spring of 2019.
