In 1990 he opened the doors of his own law firm, and began representing injured people and their families in medical malpractice cases. He was joined in his law practice by his son Paul in 1993 and his son Kevin in 1995.Paul is a civil trial lawyer who focuses his practice on medical and insurance litigation. He represents people and families who have been harmed by medical errors, with special emphasis on the needs of children. He also represents policyholders in disputes with insurance companies. He is admitted to practice in the Colorado state courts, the United States District Court for the District of Colorado and the United States Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit. Kevin was a member of the law review at Duke and received the Note of the Year Award during his second year of law school. In 1995, Kevin graduated with honors from Duke Law School and joined the Mahoney Law Firm that same year. He is admitted to practice in the Colorado and Wyoming state courts, the United States District Court for the District of Colorado, the United States District Court for the District of Wyoming, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. Paul and Kevin are members of the American Association for Justice, the Colorado Trial Lawyers' Association. Kevin is also a member of the Wyoming Trial Lawyers' Association.
