Primary/secondary Education - Harare, Harare Province, Zimbabwe
The Maker Club is a registered Social Enterprise that began operations in June 2016. It was founded by Simba and Priscah Mufunde, a husband and wife team, to help learners and educators bridge the gap between STEM/STEAM theory and practice through project based learning. The Maker Club in-class and extracurricular activities help develop creative confidence whilst bringing to life concepts taught in class as well as providing a link to their real-world application. We work with families to offer hands-on STEM/STEAM programs for children, aged 5 to 17 years, through Online, On-campus and One on One interactions. We also collaborate with Schools, Non-Governmental and Community-Based organisations to deliver STEM/STEAM programs tailored to their communities. Our programs not only give children an opportunity to learn about cutting edge technologies like 3D printing, robotics and coding but also provide a platform to discuss and develop key mindsets and attitudes like creativity, grit, curiosity and collaboration which are essential for success in the 21st century economy. We are passionate about our work with young people around the world and particularly those on our home continent of Africa.
