Orchid and Hound is vocalist John Constantine and Lawrence Alarcon on keys. The two first met while attending a performing arts school in Los Angeles, and worked together on a number of operas, musical theater, and cabaret shows. After college both John and Lawrence headed north to San Francisco and began to work on original music.In the summer of 2009 John and Lawrence created Orchid and Hound, bringing together their influences of classical, minimalist, pop, and rock and roll music. The result is what they call "queer pop": songs about love, sex, men, and sabotage. They record in John's downtown apartment, book their own shows, build their own web sites, and use the help from their creative friends to deliver music that is honest, original, and highly addictive. Orchid and Hound are currently touring San Francisco and Los Angeles while they record their debut album. Audiences consistently compare their sound to the Beatles and Queen, though the boys of O&H still remain strikingly original. From the beautifully powerful vocals to the lush piano arrangements – Orchid and Hound is a promising indie band with enough talent and originality to break through the clutter of MySpace musicians. To top it off, they do not hold back on their sexuality. Front-man John Constantine says, "I've been very blessed with unconditional love and support from friends and family. I want to give this back to our listeners – my hope is that by being true to ourselves we can inspire people to live their lives without hiding what makes them unique and special, gay or straight."
