The Mansion at Glen Cove was designed by noted architect Charles Adams Platt in 1910 and soon after named one of the Twelve Best Country Houses in America. The 55-acre estate was the home of John Teele and Ruth Baker Pratt. John Pratt was an attorney and an executive with John D. Rockefeller's Standard Oil Company.Originally known as The Manor, The Mansion at Glen Cove features a stately two-story portico entrance, an elegant, baronial double staircase, imported paneling and antique fixtures that impart a feeling of being enveloped in a bygone era. The brick Georgian mansion is set in idyllic surroundings, and is one of several glamorous estates which once comprised Long Island's Gold Coast, made famous by F. Scott Fitzgerald's iconic book, The Great Gatsby.The Mansion has 187 guest rooms and suites, and a new Wellness wing. We're just 30 minutes from New York City, and JFK and LaGuardia airports, making it easy for guests to arrive for weddings, social gatherings, and corporate meetings.
