Mining & Metals - , Victoria, Australia
The Melbourne Mining Club is a not-for-profit organisation formed to promote the minerals industry and offering a networking forum for those operating in this vital sector of the Australian economy. Our founding patron, the late Sir Arvi Parbo AC, former executive chairman of WMC and former chairman of BHP, watched over the emergence of the Melbourne Mining Club as one of the world's leading organisations for the promotion of the resource sector. Sir Arvi's legacy is continued today by our co-patrons Leigh Clifford AO and Hugh Morgan AC, and it is overseen by a volunteer-based Steering Committee.Formed in 2001, the club has blossomed into one of the pre-eminent organisations which further interests of the resource sector. Our six bi-monthly industry lunches attract speakers from the world's largest mining companies. Industry leaders and executives from the service industries to the resource sector make up our large audiences. The Melbourne Mining Club also runs popular and well-attended international events which attract resource investors in the global investment capitals to meet with and hear from leaders of the mining sector. Our annual Melbourne Mining Club in London dinner is a highlight of the global resource calendar. The club is also committed to fostering and promoting innovation across the sector, from exploration to processing and mining technologies in our Cutting Edge afternoon lecture and networking sessions.
