The Mendoza Foundation (the "Fund") has been established within the Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley (the "Foundation"), an Illinois not-for-profit corporation and a charitable organization described in sections 501(c)(3) and 170(b)(1)(A)(vi) of the Internal Revenue Code. The donors to this Fund understand that their current and future gifts are irrevocable and are subject to the Foundation's governing documents and bylaws.The Fund shall provide scholarships to students who are graduating high school or entering their freshman, sophomore, junior or senior year of undergraduate studies. Students must attend and accredited institution of higher education on a full-time basis. Eligibility is restricted to students who are or have graduated from East Aurora High School or West Aurora High School and who are pursuing studies in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM).Students who have demonstrated a strong commitment of service to their community or extracurricular activities in school shall be given preference in the awarding of these scholarships. Initially, these scholarships shall provide up to $1,000.00 per student for one year of study. In subsequent years, the amount or number of these awards may be increased and/or the number of years of assistance to each student may be extended if the income available for distribution can support sustain such increases.All scholarships from this Fund are to be awarded in accordance with the Foundation's policies and procedures for scholarship funds, as amended from time to time and as attached. In the awarding of these scholarships, financial need shall not be a primary determinant. All scholarships from the Fund shall be identified as such by the Foundation in the course of the administration and distribution thereof, unless the donors/fund representatives request anonymity in any given transaction.
