"Art for the People."For over fifty years, Michael Garman, known as America's Storyteller Sculptor, has been creating hand-made, affordable sculptures that pay tribute to American Heroes--firefighters, soldiers, cowboys and . . . winoes. Yes, winoes. Michael Garman was himself a homeless vagabond hitchhiking from town to town throughout North and South America in the late 1950s. He tramped all the way to Santiago, Chile, where he talked his way for free into the School of Fine Arts. And it was here that Garman found his true love--sculpting.Since then, Michael Garman has built an international production company dedicated to the creation of hand-crafted, highly detailed portraits of the men and women who continue to inspire him.His masterpiece, Magic Town, is located in The Michael Garman Museum in Colorado Springs. Part dollhouse, part carnival, visitors can peek into windows and down alleyways as they explore this 3,000 square-foot miniature city filled with tramps and hobos, sailors, shopkeepers, stray cats, lost souls and gritty splendor.Michael Garman's work has been collected by celebrities and heads of state, from U.S. Presidents Ronald Reagan and George Bush, to Clint Eastwood, John Elway, Dr. Jill Biden, Ryan Tedder and Jack Palance. More importantly, Michael Garman makes sure that every person who feels an emotional connection to his work is able to afford it.
