The Center was established in 1987 and is the first and only such enterprise, which has developed a program to treat autism in infancy, encompassing the entire nuclear family. The Mifne Center treats families from all over Israel and the world.The Clinical Staff includes experts from the fields of medicine, psychology, psychotherapy, family therapy and child development, who have been specially trained for work with the Mifne approach.TREATMENT PROGRAMThe program encompasses the entire nuclear family. Parents are fully involved and trained regarding the therapeutic processes for their children in order to sustain and implement them in their daily life. The Three-Stage Treatment Framework 1. Intensive residential family treatment for three weeks, at the Mifne Center.2. Aftercare treatment in the family home, with graduated Mifne therapists.3. Integration of the toddler in kindergarten with accompanying supervision.The Therapeutic Approach is holistic and focuses on the entire range of the baby's developmental components: physical - sensory – motor – emotional - cognitive, through the use of Reciprocal Play Therapy. The method was developed at the Mifne Center to motivate and provide an impetus for the improvement of the baby's abilities to engage and communicate with the environment out of curiosity and pleasure. The program combines medical, biological-mental, socio-psychological and environmental aspects.TRAINING SCHOOLIn 2001 the first school for the training of therapists in the field of autism was established by the Mifne Center in cooperation with the School for Social Science of the Bar Ilan University. The school trains therapists to work with toddlers and their families in the community. The school's graduates work with children in the aftercare treatment in the homes of families all over the country. Intensive training at the Mifne Center is available for overseas foreign professionals.
