The Monarch resides on Wisconsin's Great River Road in Fountain City. Established in 1894 and featuring the original bar, furniture and beautiful architecture, the building has been undergoing continuing renovation and expansion since May of 1995. Amenu featuring the owner's Irish heritage and family recipes includes traditional Irish comfort foods as well as soups, salads, sandwiches and handmade pizza.All meats and vegetables are locally sourced and shopped daily, with fresh baked breads and gluten free options always available.The original, 1850's brew recipes of The Fountain City Brewing Company are on tap and served correctly chilled. A new brewery Chill House has been recently added next door a very unique tasting house named after the original brewer, Schmitty's Fountain Brew Draught House, is located downstairs.A landscaped beer garden with shaded decking faces highway 35 and provides both a second entrance to the main bar area as well as access to Schmitty's.The Monarch is proudest to be recognized by families as a comfortable, safe place to bring the children as well as the grandparents. Rude behaviour or crude language is not tolerated and over imbibing is neither condoned or accepted.We maintain a strict adherence to health standards as well as COVID 19 mandates, requiring face coverings in order to enter and be seated. Air replacement and filtering units, ongoing sanitation and daily cleaning are jsut a part of our committment to the safety of our employees and customers.At The Monarch, no one leaves here hungry!
