Museums - Columbus, GA, US
The only museum in the nation dedicated to the full story of the Civil War Navies, the National Civil War Naval Museum highlights this important yet often forgotten segment of our history with ship remains, artifacts, recreations and living history events. The museum is built around the remains of the CSS Jackson, a huge Confederate Ironclad warship built in Columbus, GA, where the museum is located. The Jackson is one of the only remaining Confederate warships, and one of the largest built by the Confederacy during the war. Inside the museum are various ship recreations, a battle theater simulating the experience of being aboard an ironclad during combat, and unique artifacts you won't see anywhere else!Visit www.portcolumbus.org to see photos and more information about this one-of-a-kind museum.
