Nonprofit Organization Management - Austin, Texas, United States
The Other 23, a non-profit orginization, was founded with the sole mission of bringing people together in order to make a distinct impact on Veteran communities. Based in Austin, Texas, we provide opportunities for veterans to take advantage of community based, active therapy, hobbies with like-minded professionals and individuals. Our vision, is to provide a network of patriotic individuals and companies, who share our passion for positively impacting the lives of veterans through immersive camps. While our camps are a tool we use to bring communities together, we are most focused on the "23 hours" our participants are not at the camp. This is where The Other 23 community steps up. Co-Founders, Adam Caballero, Alana Simone, and Michael Ward, initially created "Get Wet with a Vet," a charitable event focused on introducing veterans to surf therapy through wake surfing. It was designed out of a passion for surfing and a desire to change the lives for our veterans struggling with PTS, TBI, and depression. After seeing the phenomenal impact a single event was able to have on the veteran community in Austin, they began the creation of what has become "The Other 23."Focused on therapy and support of Texas Veterans, through immersive sports-based camps. Teaming up with groups like One More Wave, Wake for Warriors, and The Adaptive Training Foundation, they have increased their capabilities and impact when working with wounded servicemen and servicewomen. The team at The Other 23, have recognized a need for an honest approach to creating communities around Texas veterans, and will stay true to that calling in the future.Reach us at: contact@theother23.org
