The University of Oxford and easyJet holidays have collaborated in the establishment of the Oxford Impact Lab, which aims to empower a generation of postgraduate students to develop the character, leadership and practical skills for collaborative and impactful research that furthers the Sustainable Development Goals. The Lab works closely with business, government and third sector partners, bringing together rigorous academic research and business mentoring to achieve sustainable development impact in the real world. It has been set up in partnership with easyJet holidays, who are a forward-thinking young business with big sustainable development aspirations and are keen to take an industry lead in sustainable tourism. The Oxford SDG Impact Lab enables students to collaborate with business to achieve real world impact in sustainable development. We support our students to:- Collaborate with business and non-academic partners.- Develop practical skills in leadership and project management.- Undertake research that leads to real-world impact. We support our partners to:- Collaborate with a new generation of world-leading graduate students.- Access bespoke and inspirational research on sustainable development.- Translate that research into organisational change in line with the SDGs.We do this by running a fellowship for graduate students to undertake a 16 week training programme followed by a four week field-based research placement covering three areas:- Ethics. Why do we want a particular impact?- Evidence. What works to achieve that impact?- Engagement. How do we make that happen?
