Religious Groups - Belleville, ON, CA
The Pentecostals of Quinte had its beginnings in 1932 at the corner of Bridge and Coleman Street where the congregation worshipped until the white church at 54 North Front Street was built in 1954. In August of 1979, Rev. Arnold MacLauchlan accepted the pastorate of First Pentecostal Church, along with his wife, Grace and their children Stephanie, Stephen and later, Stacey. There were 15 voting church members at the time. Over the years, hard work, dedication, and faithfulness were rewarded as the small congregation grew, and a larger facility became required. In 1996, the present building site at 490 Dundas Street West was purchased by the church congregation. In June 2002, Shawn and Stephanie Stickler accepted the role of Associate Pastor, and brought a new dimension to the local congregation. They worked alongside the MacLauchlans and immediately caught on to the vision. In March 2010, Pastor Arnold MacLauchlan resigned as Senior Pastor after 31 years of service. At a duly called business meeting, the members of First Pentecostal unanimously elected Rev. Shawn Stickler as the new Senior Pastor. Rev. MacLauchlan was installed as Executive Pastor, and he continues to provide support at The POQ In 2013, First Pentecostal Church members changed its name to "The Pentecostals of Quinte". The POQ still continues, just as the day it began, to reach the community and help others have a lasting relationship with God.
